So...

My period wasn't supposed to start until Monday but we had an extra test lying around so we figured - hey why not!  A 28 day cycle would technically be Thursday but I was 31 the month before so I wanted to go with Monday - which to makes things better or worse - is also my 25th birthday.

I thought for sure it would say not pregnant.  I did the thing and left it on the sink saying the entire time its going to come back not pregnant.  This one was digital so there was no mistaking when I went in and looked to see what the results said and there was a freaking "pregnant" staring back at me!  I yelled for Scott and said I'm not lying go look.  Since the test is a few months old we ran out and purchased 3 of the First Response Early Result to try later on.  Just to make sure!  The digital we used was a Clear Blue test that is supposed to test up to 4 days before your missed period.

Cross your fingers this is a keeper!  If I were still on the nest with all the ladies I would really wish and pray for some sticky baby dust right now!

Change Up!

So I'm changing the reason for this blog.  Originally I was going to use this to blog about my life as a Medical School Mrs.  The ups and downs of having your significant other going through such a difficult, yet important, time in their life and how I dealt with it.  Well we reccently decided we were going to start trying to expand our family.  I have been dealing with a lot of different emotions lately as trying so soon has come as a big surprise to me.  I thought this would be a great place to write everything out since I know the road is going to be a bumpy (litterally - hopefully!) one.  In this post I am going to do about a 3 week rewind to get you up to speed.

Back up before December 17th.  Scott and I have been together since we were 16 years old.  We knew back in high school we were going to grow up, get married and have children.  We knew we both wanted 3, 2 boys and a girl.  We have pretty much agreed on everything regarding having children except for one very important step... when to start having them.

We are both 25 this month and to me that is a big point in life.  I had always said I wanted to be a young mom.  I would rather have time when I am older and maybe more set finacially to spend time with my husband.  I mean heck how we are living now - I'm not able to enjoy all of life with him until he is out of school and then theirs residencies and so on.  We finally decided around the time we got married that we would like to start trying after he starts his 4th year of med school so that I would be due right around the time of graduation.  We had operated under this thought for the last 2.5 years.  I always joked that we should try but it never changed his mind.  The past summer 2 of his friends from school and I are were talking about when to start.  School had said December would be a good month to get pregnant if you were trying.  So I liked to bring this up to him just to kind of mess with him but it never changed anything.

Now that you have a background before December 17th I will explain what has happened in the last 3 weeks.  December 17th was the night of our Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  We had the 2 girls mentioned above over before the party to exchange gifts.  They mentioned to me that Scott had said we were planning on starting in the spring.  This was total news to me.  So we started talking about making a baby more then we had ever discussed it in the past.  So for about a week we operated under the impression we were going to start trying in March or April.  But as you can see it didn't take long for that thought to turn into let's try now!

So for the next (only god knows) how many months I will be sharing with you my excitement and struggles along this very awesome journey!

ATTN: Class... School is back in session

Monday was the start of Mr. Man's 4th semester in medical school.  It's amazing it has gone this fast.  It was also his 25th birthday so we celebrated with some classmates he hadn't really seen over break.  It's so weird to think this is his last semester of classes before he starts rotations.  Tonight he came over after his first surgery lab.  He has his gown, mask, hat and towel and showed me a couple knots he had learned to tie that will eventually become suture knots in someones arm or leg!  So crazy!

The school sent out an email today on rotation site availibility.  The site we want has 107 openings at the moment and there are 215 currently in the class.  Fingers crossed for one of those openings!!  The lottery that picks where each student will do their first year of rotation starts on January 24th (best day in the world haha i.e. my birthday) and ends at the end of the month.  During that time each student chooses the top 6 sites they would like to do their rotation.  The students are told that in the past that you have a 90% change of getting oen of your top 2 choices.  The only thing that stinks for us is our choices 2-6 require us to move further away from our families and friends.  It could be a plus for me and work but I would rather stay right where I am!

On some positive notes for me.  Now that he is back to the grind of studying well past midnight I have got to keep myself busy after work.  I've started back at the gym.  It doesn't keep me too busy as I am normally home by 6 but I am so tired afterwords I don't really have the energy to bug him!  I have been taking Zumba at one of the local athletic clubs.  AMAZING is the only word I can use to describe that class!  Some nights we shake our booties until I think they will fall off!  Another awesome, good for my

Other then that we have been doing some couple things together to keep us busy but we will discuss those adventures in a later post.  :)

Intro...

Welcome to Trials and Tribulations of a Medical School Mrs.  In this I will be covering everything life throws at us.  From school stress to work stress, animals to babies. Cooking to hobbies, school tests to life tests.

Scott, who is ready to start his 4th semester in med school, and I have been married since May 08.  It was a huge change for me when we moved to DSM for him to attend school.  We had been working the same hours and living like a normal married couple should in my opinion.  That all became just a dream when he began studying until early in the morning and I started working 3 days in DSM and 2 in IC (2 hours from DSM) which meant late nights for me too.

Now that you know a little bit about us I should also introduce the entourage we call family.  Over the last 8 years that we have been together we have added furry babies to the mix.  We have Sam, Ozzie, Bella and Skunk.  They are the ones that keep us sane (next to our amazing family and friends) in this crazy life!

Stay tuned as the road we are on is about to get bumpy!  Scott is in his final semester of classes and with that means a change in scenery.  We should know by the end of the month where we will be calling home in 6 months.  This summer he will be taking 2 sets of boards and starting clinical rotations.  The good thing is we have a pretty good chance of at least staying in state!  Keep your fingers crossed for us!
